SYSTEMS DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
Technology Design Process
There’s a big difference between cookie-cutter “fill in the blanks, please” design and real interaction. Show & Tell has a proven Technology Design Process (TDP) that we can use as a framework for exploring your plans, but we know that each new challenge is unique (that’s half the fun). Here’s what to expect:
The Friendly Version
- First things first: we talk about your needs, your goals, and your concerns.
- Then we digest your pertinent advertising, engineering, marketing and technology materials. We want to know how you work.
- We listen to you. (Crazy, we know.)
- We learn about your competitors. That makes it easier for your ideas to stand apart.
- Then the fun part: hot-and-heavy brainstorming and ‘no limit’ thinking.
- We start talking about the right technology for the job, with a level of tech talk tailored just for you.
- Then we make recommendations based on what we’ve learned from you and our experience. (For instance: Putting signs on the moon isn’t as easy as you’d think.)
- We help you explain to your team and clients what to expect. We want this to work, too.
- Everybody’s favorite: Documentation! All you’ll ever need, from the basics to the details.
- We put in endless, excruciatingly grueling hours to ensure the development process is fun and painless.
- Together, we deliver a hit.
The Techie Version
For bona fide product development that requires serious engineering, Show & Tell strictly adheres to Software Engineering Best Practices as per “The Software Engineering Body of Knowledge” (SWEBOK) – as published by the IEEE Computer Society Professional Best Practices.

WE SPEAK PLAIN ENGLISH
For many of our partners, we have created a very helpful “Signs for People That Don’t Make a Living Building Signs” document. Customised shortly after the design phase, this document describes exactly what the product will be, how it will function, who will operate it, etc.
It’s an easy-to-read reference written in everyday English, so that everyone on the team will know what to expect. Our clients, more often than not, love it: it helps to keep everyone informed in the beginning, and helps them avoid costly mistakes later. |
